Show Up for Smiley Riley

15 /100

This photo was taken on May 29th, 2019. Sully was 10 and had recently finished treatment for Stage IV Neuroblastoma. Riley was 5 and had recently started his treatment for the same disease. The two became fast friends. They were both the third brother. They both had a joyful, curious, slightly mischievous outlook on life. They both loved Dr. Meany, their shared oncologist. Riley beat that cancer and showed No Evidence of Disease for five years. Now Riley is ten and last week his family got the news that he has relapsed. He has to fight again.
Sully taught us to show up and do whatever you can to help others. The blood shortage is real and affects patient care and the choices available to doctors. If you are in the DC area and have the ability to donate at the Blood Donor Center at Children’s National an appointment there would most directly benefit Riley but trust me when I say a rising tide lifts all boats.
By hitting the pledge button you will be directed to all the blood drives in your area. Donated blood saves lives. #smileyrileystrong #showup #smilelikesully
