When my mom was in the hospital last year, I noticed that the blood that the nurse used for my mom’s transfusion was from Texas. I couldn’t believe that it wasn’t from NJ! At that moment, I knew I wanted to donate my blood in order to pay it forward. So, 6 months later, I donated blood for the first time & plan to do it annually!
I hadn’t even entertained donating blood previously because I thought the medication I take would prevent me from being eligible. It turns out that the list of medications that wouldn’t make one eligible is small. Honestly, I was scared to do it as well, but it really wasn’t that bad – my fear was worse.
