We have a very young friend who is bravely fighting leukemia right now. She has her family and friends by her side, helping support her through this challenging time. One thing that is crucial to her treatment is donated blood. She and her family refer to this as “red medicine” and it is so important for her and many other people who are battling cancer. According to the American Red Cross, “Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood”.
