Lone Star College Online, let’s turn this summer red! By that, we mean let’s get out and donate some much needed blood at one of your nearby American Red Cross donation sites. All you have to do is go on here and pledge, and the site will take you to sign up, then it will show you how to sign up and it will even find a donation place closest and most convenient for you to go to. Blood donations are especially important during the winter and summer months, when the supply can be low due to poor weather, holiday celebrations, and increased illnesses. Blood and platelets can’t be manufactured, so they rely on volunteer donors.
Donating blood can also have health benefits for the donor, such as lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart attacks.

We work together every day to do important work. But today, we want to accomplish something even more meaningful. The Red Cross has to collect 15,000 blood donations every day to have enough blood to help patients in 2,700 hospitals and transfusion centers across the country. That’s a lot of patients in need and all of us, coming together, can help ensure patients receive life saving blood.
