Each year, 4.5 million Americans need blood for various reasons. Unfortunately, only about 38% of the country’s population is healthy enough to donate blood, and less than 10% who are eligible to donate do so on a regular basis. For donor’s it is a relatively painless process- but for recipients it is a lifesaving gesture that could mean the difference between life and death.
From cancer patients to surgery patients, to those dealing with chronic illness, clean blood is an ongoing need. One that many of us take for granted every day. With each whole blood donation, there is the potential to save up to 3 lives. This year, we are donating and campaigning in honor of Boyd Brooks, who passed away last year.
