5 years ago, after an uncomplicated pregnancy and delivery of our 2nd daughter, I developed a postpartum hemorrhage that was further complicated by disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). Over the course of about 6 hours, I lost 4 liters of blood and would need 15 units of blood products to survive.
Donated blood literally saved my life and kept our family together!
To honor the gift given to me by 15 strangers, I’m hoping and praying to invite 75 people to give blood with me during the month of June, the 5th anniversary of my life saving blood transfusion.
5 years * 15 units of blood that saved me = 75 people
Help me reach my goal and ensure that patients receive the life saving blood they need. Make and keep an appointment to give blood to the American Red Cross or a nearby blood donation center!
Hi everyone – we HIT the goal of 75 pledges – and we’re still going, we hit 78 last night!! (This includes blood donation + financial pledges)
I am so, so grateful for each of you. 78 pledges means up to 234 lives saved and that number just blows my mind.
Let me know if you are having trouble scheduling an appointment, I would be happy to help find a spot near you that’s convenient. Remember, it doesn’t have to be with ARC! I’m going to a local spot here in Austin called We Are Blood.
