Zander’s 15th Birthday Blood Drive

Zander at Arches National Park UT, September 2019
6 /15

Zander was a kind, gentle, funny, intelligent, and energetic 13-year-old. He loved to play soccer, ride dirt bikes, and play video games. He wanted to be a professional soccer player when he grew up. He courageously fought medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer that most commonly affects children and young adults. Zander fought HARD for 11 months and 14 days. He held on to hope, unwavering determination, a beautiful smile, and a fine sense of humor throughout his battle with cancer. Zander’s motto throughout treatment was ‘Just put your head down and do it’!

On April 24th, Zander would have celebrated his 15th birthday with his twin brother, Matthew. To honor Zander’s life, courage, and strength, and celebrate what would have been his 15th birthday, we are holding a Virtual Blood Drive from May 1st to May 31st during Brain Cancer Awareness Month, to support other kids like Zander who are still in the fight for their lives. Kids fighting cancer need frequent transfusions of blood and platelets. Many have too many transfusions to count. Please come out and support childhood cancer warriors and honor the courage, strength, and determination of Zander and every childhood cancer warrior and angel.
