Anyone that knows Scotty will tell you he is one of the hardest working and most family oriented men you will ever meet. He’d give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, but unfortunately Scotty suffered a heart attack Sunday, 01/15/23. He spent several days in ICU at Russell Medical Center and had a heart cath done. We found out that he had a 100% blockage in the main artery in the front of his heart and 80% blockage in the back artery. Open heart surgery was scheduled at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham and performed on 01/30/23. The surgery went well and he began recovery. The initial recovery plan was a four day stay on the cardiac floor to make sure all was well so they could send him on his way. In the process of recovering Scotty suffered another heart attack that is usually called the “widow maker.” Scotty was sent back to the cath lab for three more stents on 02/05/23. Scotty was intubated that evening after his visit to the cath lab and has encounter complication after complication since. The most recent issue being high volumes of blood loss. As of today 02/27/23 Scotty has been at Grandview for 28 days and is on his 55th unit of blood (7 whole gallons) and 13 units of platelets. Scotty has a mass of people who are on their knees praying for him and with him, but there is also a major shortage of blood for people like Scotty when they are in need of if. We are working on setting up a local blood drive for those of you that would like to donate, but if you aren’t local and would like to contribute to the cause here is a good way! Take a picture of yourself donating and post it with #PRAYERS4POD, or if you cannot donate please, please share the information so that anyone who wants to can!
