When Dylan was born we thought we knew what to expect…long nights with little sleep, cute baby clothes, and lots of dirty diapers.
However, we did not anticipate that our four day old baby would have a massive brain bleed. Luckily we were able to get the help we needed at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. There we found out that Dylan has severe Hemophilia A (Factor VIII deficiency) and that was what caused the spontaneous bleed.
We ended up spending two months in the hospital with Dylan while he recovered from his bleed. He also had to have numerous surgeries while he was in the hospital.
During that time he received multiple blood transfusions, platelets, and plasma. Without all of the donors last year our little guy would not be here with us now.
We want to celebrate Dylan’s first birthday by hosting a virtual blood drive.
You can help out by donating whole blood, platelets, or plasma from June 8th through September 8th. You can pledge to donate on our campaign page on the Red Cross website.
While you’re donating be sure to snap a selfie and share it on social media with the hashtag #donateONEforDylan. Don’t forget to tag the Red Cross.
We thank you all so much for taking the time to give blood to help someone else who will need it.
