Thank you to the Centre County Commissioners for proclaiming January 2022 as National Blood Donor Month. National Blood Donor Month has been observed every January since 1970 with the goal of increasing blood and platelet donations during winter – one of the most difficult times of year to collect enough blood products to meet patient needs. This year, raising awareness for blood donations is even more important since the American Red Cross declared it’s first ever national blood crisis—this is the worst shortage in over a decade and it is posing a risk to patient care. Doctors have been forced to make difficult decisions about who receives transfusions and who will need to wait until more products become available.
The need for blood is constant so we ask that you continue to donate in the weeks and months ahead. Thank you for all you do to support patients in need!
