Dorian is an 11-year-old Middle School student in the Shenendehowa School District north of Albany, NY. He likes sports, video games, and his dog Noodle.
Instead of going to summer camp this year, Dorian will spend most of his summer in the hospital, after recently being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a rare blood cancer. He is undergoing chemotherapy right now, and will eventually require a bone marrow transplant.
Dorian has already received several life-saving blood transfusions, and will likely need more. That’s where we all can help.
Dorian and children fighting cancer like him require transfusions to stay alive. Unfortunately, the Red Cross estimates that only 3% of eligible people actually donate blood each year. Because of that, there’s a constant need and shortage.
We have created our virtual blood drive, Donors For Dorian, to help meet that need. Donating a pint of blood takes about an hour, start to finish, is virtually painless, and you won’t even notice it’s gone (plus free cookies and juice!) Eligible donors can give every 56 days, and if you’re over the age of 16 and weigh more than 110 pounds, you may be eligible.
Please join Donors For Dorian in helping save lives of children just like Dorian! We know that Dorian and his family are appreciative, and on their behalf, we thank you for your lifesaving gift.
