After being stuck in a quarantine for over a year, we have come to realize how important it is for healthcare workers to have blood on hand. Charles Colgan High School is such an engaged, diverse community, and we thought it would be a good tradition for the Senior Class of 2021 to give back.
Blood is needed to be on-hand for accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Today, I can count 3 friends/acquaintances who are included in this list. How many people do you know?
Every two seconds someone in America needs blood. Each donation can help save up to three lives.
This blood shortage could also impact patients who need surgery, victims of car accidents and other emergencies, or patients fighting cancer.
Eligible healthy donors are strongly urged to donate blood during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Red Cross has implemented extensive steps to ensure it’s safe to give blood.
