Nine years ago this month, I received a massive blood transfusion after severe complications when Emmeline was born. I received 11 units of blood, and it was thanks to blood donors that this life-saving gift was available to me. In order to give back, I’m starting this virtual blood drive and looking for at least 11 people to pledge to donate blood. Or if you’d rather not pledge, I hope this campaign raises awareness of the need to donate blood. According to the American Red Cross, someone in the U.S. needs blood every 2 seconds. Your donation can potentially save up to 3 lives.
