Hi everyone –

Through a mutual friend, a few months ago, I was introduced to Laura & Adam. Two amazing people that were getting ready to welcome a beautiful boy into the world. This baby boy would be born with the same Congenital Heart Defect as my son, Keegan. It was the first time I had personally connected with a fellow Heart Mom right here in the same town. Laura and I instantly connected via text messages and on May 8th, Liam Edwards entered this world. May 8th also happens to be the Anniversary of when Keegan was discharged from Golisano Children’s Hospital. We had yet another connection.

I wanted to finally meet Laura face-to-face, so she allowed me to visit the PCICU while we were at the hospital for Keegan’s check up. Liam was in the same bay that Keegan had been in. Another connection. That was the first time that we shared tears together.

Liam was placed on ECMO just like our Keegan was. Another connection. ECMO is a heart/lung bypass that utilizes donor blood and an infant on ECMO can use in upwards of 20-30 units.

I love this Edwards family…Laura, Adam & Liam, as if they are our family. We are forever friends. I am honored to organize this blood drive in Liam’s memory. Even if you have never had the privilege of meeting them, I ask that you please come out to donate or even just pop in on September 22nd.

We will celebrate Liam’s life. Today. On September 22nd. And always. ❤️
