Megan’s Campaign to Save Lives

3 /50

September 2017 I was admitted to the hospital due to extremely abnormal bloodwork. After 5 Pints of Red Blood Cells, 4 Pints of Platelets, and a Bone Marrow Biopsy, I was sent home in pretty rough shape, although I was stable. My biopsy did not show any signs of cancer, which was great news! In November 2017, I was diagnosed with an ultra rare blood disorder called PNH. The only cure is a Bone Marrow Transplant, which I do not need at this time. However part of my treatment includes blood transfusions. Blood transfusions literally saved my life, and continue to keep me alive and functioning. I will probably be transfusion dependent for the rest of my life. Every 2 weeks, I go to the Cancer Center in Santa Barbara for treatment, I get to see first hand how blood effects others. I have learned that you never know when you will need blood. From blood disorders to cancer to trauma, you literally never know. Before all of this I never realized how important blood is and this is why I created this campaign, to give back and help others in need.
