LifeFlight of Maine with the help of Central Maine Medical Center are hosting an upcoming blood drive! The mission is to increase awareness for the need for blood products for patients like Kinzie, a bright, beautiful little 6 year old, dependent on blood therapy during her acute treatment. By giving blood you can help so many people like Kinzie, fighting cancer, traumas and other critical medical needs.
The need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood at some point in our lifetime. One blood donation can help save up to 3 lives. LifeFlight of Maine carries two units of type 0 negative blood (universal donor blood) for the treatment of severely ill and injured patients throughout the State of Maine.
Without volunteer blood donors, our story might have had a different ending. Please help us reach our goal and ensure that patients receive the life saving blood they need. Make and keep an appointment to give blood to your local American Red Cross blood drive.
