When making plans with friends after school, your first thought is probably not to go to a blood drive. At first, I was wary of donating blood because having a needle and tube connected to your body is a jarring image. But then, I was introduced to all the benefits of donating blood. The blood you donate can be used for life-saving transfusions that aid in recovery from serious injuries, childbirth emergencies, cancer treatments, and more. Many of my family members have suffered childbirth emergencies, so I want to help others like the blood donors that saved my relatives’ lives. Donating blood is both easy and rewarding, and I hope this campaign will help spread the importance of donating blood in our community.
