Beyond Your Veins Campaign

Berkeley Haas students live by the Defining Leadership principle of Beyond Yourself: “We shape our world by leading ethically and responsibly. As stewards of our enterprises, we take the longer view in our decisions and actions. This often means putting larger interests above our own”.

During these unprecedented times, there are people fighting for their lives and in dire need of your help. The American Red Cross is currently facing a severe blood shortage due to an unprecedented number of blood drive cancellations during the COVID-19 outbreak. The blood shortage impacts patients who need surgery, victims of car accidents and other emergency, or patients fighting cancer. Healthy individuals are needed to donate now to help patients counting on lifesaving blood, platelets, or AB Elite plasma.

We know that there may be concerns about social distancing. The Red Cross has assured us that additional precautions have been implemented to ensure the safety of donors and staff. We would also like to remind students willing to donate to adhere to best practices such as frequent handwashing and standing 6-feet away from others.

“You can still go out and give blood. We’re worried about potential blood shortages in the future. Social distancing does not have to mean social disengagement.” – U.S. Surgeon General

Your contributions today could save a life. If you are healthy and under circumstances conducive to giving blood, please consider doing your part. Please pledge your support here:
