In May of 2018, I underwent what was expected to be a pretty uneventful surgery. Well, my recovery did not go well and when things took a turn for the worse 5 days later, I checked into the hospital. To address the complications I was experiencing, the next morning I would have a second surgery and become the recipient of a blood transfusion. All told I would spend 5 days in the hospital, 3 weeks on leave, and an additional 2 weeks of only working 4 hour days.

So having a blood transfusion is why I am hosting a blood drive. It makes me ineligible to donate for one year and that year deadline is soon approaching. I have donated almost 2 gallons of blood to date (and I will be hitting that 2 gallon milestone with my donation on June 8) so being unable to do what is so important to me is the reason for this drive. I am asking family and friends to join me as I make my first donation since everything that happened last year so together we can make up for what I have been unable to contribute since then.

Since not everyone is able to attend the drive on June 8 in Tucson, I have created this virtual campaign. This will allow friends and family from afar to donate if they support what I am trying to do but cannot be there with me in person.
