Please join the SHPE Detroit Professional Chapter in our efforts to push for a greater representation of Latinos donating blood. This virtual drive stemmed from the most recent attacks that have harmed LatinX
families in the United States specifically to El Paso.
We hope that other chapters will join us and push members to join the virtual blood drive movement. As Hispanics we are the fastest growing part of the US population, however when it comes to blood donations that is not the case. Studies have shown that Hispanics have a higher number of O blood types which makes it imperative that we go out and donate on a frequent basis if we are able bodied and in good health.
You must wait at least eight weeks (56 days) between donations of whole blood and 16 weeks (112 days) between Power Red donations.
Don’t forget to pledge and bring a friend to donate.
Challenge your friends (or anyone for that matter) to a friendly competition! Who will win the battle to do the most social good for your community?
Put your virtual blood drive campaign against one or even multiple other campaigns to see who can recruit more blood donors for the American Red Cross.
