Ernest was an O positive universal donor who donated as often as he was able. After being diagnosed with MCL, he required numerous blood and platelet transfusions. The final act of his courageous battle took place on American Red Cross Giving Day, so the McKnight family asks that in lieu of flowers or food, if friends wish, they may honor Ernest by donating to the American Red Cross.
