As Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to affect communities across the country, we completely understand we can not hold in person blood drives— but you can still help! Challenges to a ready blood supply for patients suffering trauma or illness are made worse by viral illness each year, and patients can’t wait for such challenges to pass. Patients won’t stop needing our help and we can be a partner in this!!

Change Healthcare is hosting a, SleevesUp Virtual Blood Drive!!! This campaign is an opportunity to encourage healthy donors in our network to pledge to give blood and spread awareness to help the American Red Cross to continue their lifesaving mission to ensure patients receive much needed blood products. Our SleevesUp campaign is a great way show support and remind friends and family that we’re one community—bound together by our humanity.

*As new guidelines are being released, if going into public for any reason, please consider wearing a homemade mask, scarf, bandana or face covering of some type as it might be a very effective complement to hand-washing, social-distancing and other measures to mitigate against the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Blood donation continues to be a safe process. There have been no reported cases of any respiratory virus being transmitted by blood, including this coronavirus (COVID-19). We at the Red Cross are taking preventative health precaution necessary at both blood drives and donation centers, today and every day. People should not hesitate to give or receive blood, any way they can.
